One of the Rare Causes of Acute Abdomen Leading to Subileus: Jejunal Diverticulitis

Background: Jejunal diverticulitis is one of the rarecauses of acute abdomen generally seen in the elderly.Jejunal diverticulosis was defined as the herniation ofthe mucosa and the submucosa from the inside of themuscular layer of the bowel wall on the mesentericside of the intestine.Case Report: We presented the intraoperative andpathological findings of a 69-year-old male patientwho had presented with complaints about abdominalpain, nausea, and vomiting and been operated upondue to subileus and peritonitis induced by large-sizedjejunal diverticulitis, along with his computed tomography(CT) findings.Conclusion: Jejunal diverticulitis is uncommon andmay be a disease which might be difficult to diagnosewhen it develops on the basis of the large-sized diverticularesembling intestinal ansae. To the best of ourknowledge, the computed tomography and intraoperativefindings of a case in which partial resection isapplied to the jejunum due to subileus have not beenpreviously presented in the literature.
