Do the Perceptions of Communication and Performance Appraisal System in Organizations Predict Organizational Culture Perception?

In this study, the predictability of employees' perceptions of communication and performance appraisal system in their organizations was evaluated in terms of perception of organization culture. For this reason two studies were conducted. In first study two samples (106 employees used in the first and 79 employees used in the second sample) were used and psychometric properties of the scale that aims to measure employees' perceptions of communication and performance appraisal perception in organization were examined. At the end of the first study, the findings supported the validity and reliability of Communication and Performance Appraisal Perception Scale (CPAPS) which was examined in the first study. 90 employees from production, sales and marketing departments of a durable product company, were taken as subjects for the second study. CPAPS and Organizational Culture Typology Scale (OCTS) were used to obtain the data in that study. At the end of the analysis, it was found that the perception of communication in the organization predicted achievement, support, and hierarchical culture perceptions positively. Moreover, the findings revealed that the employees perception of the performance appraisal system in the organization predicted hierarchical culture perception positively and power culture perception negatively.
