YÜKSEK RAKIMDA YAŞAYAN BEHÇET HASTALARINDA HEMATOKRİT YÜKSEKLİĞİNİN VASKÜLER TUTULUMA ETKİSİ
AMAÇ: Behçet hastalığı tanısıyla izlenen hastalarda denizseviyesinden 1890 m de yaşamanın vasküler tutulum ve trombüs ileilişkisi incelendi.GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: Yüksek rakımda yaşamakta olan (ortalama1890 metre) bir eğitim araştırma hastanesinde takip edilen Behçethastalığı tanısı konulmuş olan hastalar ile 890 metrede yaşayanBehçet hastalarının vasküler patoloji ve trombüs açısından klinik vedemografik verileri retrospektif olarak karşılaştırıldı.BULGULAR: İki grubun yaş ortalaması ve cinsiyet dağılımıaçısından istatiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark yoktu. Vasküler tutulum vetromboembolik olaylar açısından her iki grupta benzer tutulum gözlendi.SONUÇ: 1890 metre yükseklikte yaşayanlarda, yüksek rakımnedeniyle oluşmuş olan hematokrit yüksekliği Behçet hastalarındavasküler tutulum ve vaskülite bağlı trombüs için ilave bir riskoluşturmamaktadır.
THE EFFECT OF HEMATOCRIT ELEVATION ON VASCULAR INVOLVEMENT IN BEHÇET PATIENTS LIVING AT HIGH ALTITUDE
PURPOSE: We investigated the relationship between vascular involvement / thrombotic events and living at high altitude (1890 m above sea level) in patients with Behçet's disease. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The frequency of vascular involvement / thrombotic events in Behçet patients living at high (1890 m) and lower (890 m) altitudes was compared retrospectively. RESULTS: There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of mean age and gender distribution. Similar frequency of vascular involvement and thromboembolic events was observed in both groups. CONCLUSION: In patients with Behcet’s disease, elevated hematocrit levels due to living at high altitude do not pose an additional risk for vascular involvement and thrombotic events.
