Nefret Söylemi Üzerinden Ötekileştirme: Twitter’da Mültecilere Yönelik Nefret Tipolojisi Analizi

2010 yılından bu yana Suriye’de yaşanan iç savaş nedeniyle ülkelerinden göç eden halk için Türkiye önemli bir göç merkezi haline gelirken, yaşanan bu kaos ve mülteci krizi sonucunda Avrupa ülkelerinde ve Türkiye’de mülteci sorunu nefret söyleminin merkezine yerleşmiştir. Mülteciler ve yaşadıkları sorunlarla ilgili çevrimiçi ortamlarda üretilen içerikler, kullanılan dil mültecilere yönelik oluşan nefret söyleminin daha güçlenmesine sebep olmaktadır. Çalışmada Türkiye’de Suriyelilerle ilgili çevrimiçi paylaşımların nefret unsurları taşıyıp taşımadığı, ayrımcı söylem stratejileri temelinde sınıflandırılarak araştırılmıştır. Türkiye’deki Twitter kullanıcılarının Türkçe içerikleri üzerinden gerçekleştirilen bu araştırmada, #suriyeli”, “#mülteci”, “#suriyelimülteci”, “#suriyelileriistemiyoruz” ve “#suriyelilerdefolsun” hashtaglerinin altına yapılan 4.217 adet tweet incelenmiş ve mültecilere geliştirilen söylemlerin daha çok hangi ayrımcı söylem stratejileri tipolojileri altında toplandığı keşfedilmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışmada olumsuz söylemlerin ötekileştirici ve kışkırtıcı bir arka planı olduğu, Twitter kullanıcılarının söylemlerinin sertleşip hakaret boyutuna vardığı, mültecilere yönelik nefret ve düşmanlık söylemlerinin kolektif olarak kamusal eleştiriler çerçevesinde toplandığını söylemek mümkündür.

Othering Through Hate Speech: An Analysis of Hate Typology Against Refugees on Twitter

Since 2010, for people who migrated from the war in Syria, while Turkey was becoming a major immigration center, it experienced chaos and this is resulted with the refugee crisis and hate speech in both Turkey and European countries. The content and the language in new media cause and grow hate speech against refugees. Undoubtedly, the power of the media when shaping the individuals’ perceptions and attitudes cannot be denied. The content produced in the new media, the language used causes hate speech. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the content and discourse left for Syrian refugees on social media platforms. Critical discourse analysis was conducted on the hate content about Syrian refugees on Twitter. Twitter posts containing hate speech about Syrian refugees were classified on the basis of discriminatory discursive strategies. 4217 tweets posted under the hashtags #suriyeli”, “#mülteci”, “Suriyelimulteci”, “Suriyelimulteciistemiyoruz” and “suriyelilerdefolsun” were analyzed and aimed to discover under which categories hate discourses were generated. This study found that negative discourses have a marginalizing and provocative background. Also it points out that Twitter users’ contents have become insulting. Study founds that the hate speech towards the refugees are collected within the framework of public criticisms.
