İzmir’in kurtuluş tarihi olan 9 Eylül 1922, aynı zamanda yeni bir Türk devletinin temellerinin atıldığı tarihti. Fakat kurtuluştan kısa bir süre sonra 13 Eylül’de çıkan Büyük İzmir yangını ile şehrin üçte ikisi yanmış ve şehir yıkıntılar arasında kalmıştı. Artık İzmir’in yeniden ayağa kalkması, eski parlak günlerine dönmesi, Cumhuriyet idaresinin en önemli hedefi haline gelmiş; Cumhuriyet’in iktisadi yükselişi İzmir’in yükselişi ile bir tutulur olmuştu. Burada tanıtımını yapacağımız çalışma, Atatürk dönemi olarak nitelendirilen 19231938 yılları arasında İzmir’deki iktisadi gelişmesini dönemin arşiv kayıtlarına dayanarak ortaya koymaktadır

The date of liberation of Izmir, September 9th 1922 at the same time is the date that foundations of the new Turkish state were laid. However, shortly after the liberation of the city, two-thirds of the city burned and was in ruins by the Great Fire of Izmir broke out on September 13th. Re-awakening of Izmir, returning to its bright days became the most important aim of Republican administration; the economic rise of the Republic had been kept together the rise of Izmir.In here the work that we will introduce, displays the economic development in Izmir between years of 1923-1938 which is characterized as the period of Ataturk, depending on archive records of the period
