Kimlik olgusu sosyal bilimlerin son dönemlerde üzerinde en fazla durduğu kavramlardan biridir. Bireysel, toplumsal ve ulusal kimliklerin ne şekilde inşa edildiği ve bu kimliklerin iç ve dış politikadaki yansımaları, konstrüktivist teori başta olmak üzere, pek çok teorinin başlıca ilgi alanı haline gelmiştir. Bu kapsamda çalışmada, kimlik kavramı ve konstrüktivist teori iki ayrı başlıkta analiz edilmiştir. Sonraki aşamada, 15 Temmuz Darbe ve İşgal Girişimi kimlik olgusu kapsamında değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın temel sorunsalı; darbecilerin nasıl bir kimlikle bu eylemi gerçekleştirmiş oldukları ve Türk halkının buna vermiş olduğu destansı karşılığın arka planındaki üst kimliğin yapısal özelliklerinin analizidir. Çalışmada savunulan temel tez; Türk ulusal kimliğinin 15 Temmuz ihaneti ile uzun sü- redir yaşadığı atalet ve gafletten uyandığıdır. Ayrıca 15 Temmuz’un Türk ulusal kimliğinin tarihsel, kültürel ve sosyal derinliğini anlamak ve anlamlandırmak adına çok önemli bir referans noktası teşkil ettiğidir.

The identity phenomenon has been one of the topics the social sciences recently focused on. The topics of how individual, social and national identities were constructed and, their reflection in domestic and foreign policies has become main area of interest of many theories, especially of constructivism. Therefore the term of identity and the theory of constructivism are analyzed in two different section in the paper. Afterwards, July 15th coup and invasion attempt was analyzed within the context of the identity phenomenon. The main problematic of the paper is to find out the identity of the perpetuators of the coups and analysis of structural features of upper identity in the background of heroic reaction by Turkish people. The paper mainly argues that Turkish identity was awakened from the long time inertia and negligence after the betrayal on July 15th. Additionally, it became a reference point to understand and explain the historical, cultural and social depth of Turkish identity.
