Historical periods of Turkish language that can be studied through written-literary sources present rich and diverse vocabulary characteristics. Research on vocabulary has an important place in historical and contemporary linguistic studies on Turkish language. Those studies introduce relevant and essential information about the life styles, customs and traditions, social and political history and cultural and social trends of a society. Basic words play on important in the vocabularies of languages. Human names, nicknames, place names and kinship names are considered as basic words. Therefore these words are the ones referenced first in languages teaching, and in the studies of kinships of languages and in languages studies. Turkish language also show a great variety in respect of kinship names. This is the indicative of the importance of the indicative of the importance of the institution of family and kinship relations. The fact that a language has kinship terms a lot of, a few is directly related with the relations of family and kinship in that society. In this article, the family structure which constitutes the basic form of the Turkish culture and judicial kinship terms are discussed. Turkish language, which belongs to one of the most well-known language families, is one of the most prolific languages of the world in respect of terms of family relationships. A great number of words are used to terms relatives in various dialects of Turkish and in Anatolia dialects in particular. Some of these terms are following: dünür, gelin, damat, enişte, yenge. In this article, origins and meaning of these terms will be questioned.
