This study introduces a web-based management system called "Design Project" that was developed to direct, monitor and evaluate students' design projects according to design processes. This software tool was developed as a new module in Moodle, which is an open source learning management system (LMS). It was applied for one academic term with student groups attending the course unit "ETE404-Industrial Design" at the Industrial Technology Education Department, Gazi University and the data obtained from students was analyzed at the end of the academic term. The results of using the LMS were assessed by comparing them with conventional supervisory methods. The results showed that the LMS system increased communication between student-counselor, student-student; facilitated report submission and archiving; and standardized assessment criteria between different instructors.
