Günümüzde sadece ülkemizde değil dünya genelinde istihdam ve işsizlik sorunu ülkenin ekonomik gelişme ve sosyal kalkınma düzeyinin önemli bir göstergesi olarak kabul edilmektedir. Son dönemde ülkemiz G-20 grubu ülkeleri arasında adı geçen bir ülkede olsa da halen işsizlik en önemli sosyal ve ekonomik sorunlardan birisi olarak yerini korumaktadır. Ülkemiz, ekonomik ve sosyal yapıdaki aksamalara ek olarak, uygulanan makro ekonomik politikaların da yetersiz kalışı ile birlikte işsizlik oranı azalması gerekirken giderek arttığı gözlemlenmektedir. Geçmiş dönemlerde eğitim düzeyinin artması ile azalacağı ümit edilen işsizlik sorunu yerini eğitimli gençlerden oluşan bir işsizler ordusuna bırakmıştır. Bu çalışmada özellikle son dönemde gerek ülkemizden gerekse bölgesel koşullardan kaynaklanan nedenlerle işsizlik oranının artış nedenleri ele alınmış, mevcut sorunlara ne şekilde önemler alınabileceğine dair çözüm önerileri sunulmuştur.

Nowadays employment and unemployment problem are regarded as a significant factor in economic and social development levels of a country not only in our country but also across the world. Although our country has been mentioned among the G-20 countries during the recent period, unemployment still remains as one of the most significant social and economic problems. In our country, it is observed that the unemployment rate is increasing at an increasing rate instead of decreasing as the implemented macroeconomic policies become insufficient and also the disruptions of economic and social structures are experienced. The unemployment problem which was expected to decrease based on the increasing education level in the previous period has given its place to the ranks of unemployed that was composed of educated youth. This study addressed especially the increases in the unemployment rate resulting from the conditions of both our country and the region, and solution proposals of measures for current problems were put forward.
