Yenidoğan döneminde emmeme/beslenememe yakınması önemlidir Ülkemizde akraba evliliğinin sık görülmesi nedeniyle, sağlıklı doğan ancak doğumun ilk saatlerinde emme güçlüğü gelişen yenidoğanlarda do ğumsal metabolizma hastalıkları akla gelmelidir.
Poor feeding in the newborn period and non- ketotic hyperglycinemia
Poor feeding in the newborn period can be seen as a temporary adaptation problem however, it could be the first symptom of a serious disease. An otherwise healthy newborn was taken under observation at the 9th hour postnatally due to “poor sucking”. Progressive hypotonicity and respiratory arrest developed in the following hours. The patient was diagnosed with nonketotic hyperglycine mia after the metabolic work up. Poor sucking and difficulty in feeding are significant symptoms in the newborn period. Due to the high rates of consanguinity in our country, inborn errors of metabolism should be kept in mind for the healthy newborns experiencing feeding problems in the first hours of life.
