Ekstragonodal germ hücreli tümör saptanan hastalarda testisler incelenmeli ve burned out testis tümörü şüphesinde orşiektomi yapılmalıdır.
Retroperitoneal mass mimicking Burned-out testis tumor and kidney cancer in a patient with adult polycystic kidney
Primary testicular tumors are the most common solid tumors detected in young patients. Burned-out testis tumors are rarely seen and regress spontaneously. They are most commonly diagnosed with metastatic disease and might be misdiagnosed as primary extragonadal germ cell tumors that constitute 3-5% of germ cell tumors. Herein, we report a patient with burned-out testis tumor who presented with retroperitoneal mass lesion mimicking a kidney mass on radiological imaging methods with concomitant adult polycystic kidney disease which is a known risk factor for renal cancer development. Physical examination and evaluation of the testis should be carried out in patients with extragonadal germ cell tumors and orchidectomy should be performed if burned-out testis tumor is suspected.
