The increase of R & D spending expected to provide business growth and support the competitive advantages against foreign countries’ firms. Today’s competitive business environment urges businesses to build constant innovation system.  Innovation causes increase of productivity and prosperity in the long run. This contributes the economic growth. In this study, the relationship examined between R & D expenditure and economic growth for Turkey analyzing with Johansen cointegration method by using annual data for the period 1990‐2008.
