Temel Psikolojik Gereksinimlerin Karşılanmasının Yabancı Dilde (İngilizce) İletişim Kurma İsteği Üzerindeki Rolü: Lisans Düzeyindeki Turizm Öğrencileri Üzerine Bir Değerlendirme

Turizmde konuk- ev sahibi arasında iletişimi sağlamada yabancı dil becerisi önemlidir. Turizm eğitiminde öğrencilerin gereksinim duyduğu yabancı dilin öğretilmesinde sorumluluk sahibi olan üniversitelerin öğrencilerin “konuşma becerisi edinmeleri” uygulamada en çok zorlandıkları alanı oluşturmaktadır. Bu noktada iletişim kurma isteği (İKİ), ikinci ve yabancı dil öğreniminde başarıyı etkilediği varsayılan faktörlerden birisi olarak araştırılması gereken bir konudur. Bu yönüyle çalışma, turizm lisans öğrencilerinin temel psikolojik gereksinimlerinin karşılanması ile İngilizce İKİ arasındaki ilişkinin araştırılmasına yöneliktir. Çalışma nicel araştırma yöntemi ile kurgulanmış ve veriler anket yardımıyla toplanmıştır. Temel psikolojik gereksinimler kavramı; özerklik, yeterlik ve ait olma, İKİ kavramı ise; anadili İngilizce olanlarla İKİ, anadili İngilizce olmayanlarla İKİ, devam edilen sınıfta İKİ boyutlarıyla ele alınmıştır. Çalışmada faktör analizi, fark analizleri (ANOVA ve t-test), korelasyon ve regresyon analizleri yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın bulgularına göre, özerklik, İngilizce İKİ’ni tüm bağlamlarda olumlu yönde etkilemektedir. Yeterlik anadili İngilizce olan ve anadili İngilizce olmayan kişilerle İKİ’nde etkili olurken ait olma ise anadili İngilizce olmayanlar ve sınıf içinde İKİ’ni etkilemektedir.
