Bu çalışmanın amacı Türk sosyoloji tarihinin yüzyıllık tarihsel ve düşünsel gövdesi içinde düzenlenmiş ulusal ve uluslararası ölçekli sosyoloji kongrelerinin temel betimleyici çizgilerini bir dizi içinde belirginleştirmek, söz konusu aktiviteleri sosyolojinin Türkiyedeki tarihsel gelişim çizgisi paralelinde yorumlamak, kongre kompozisyonuna ilişkin üniversite, bölüm ve bildiri kategorileri çerçevesinde genel değerlendirmeler yapmaktır. Çalışma Türkiye'de düzenlenmiş ulusal ve uluslararası sosyoloji kongreleri ile sınırlı bir çerçeveye sahiptir. Değerlendirmeler kongrelerde sunulan bildirilerin özetleri ve yayımlanmış metinleri üzerinden yapılmıştır. İstatistiksel analizlerde çok yazarlı çalışmalarda bildiri sayısı tek olarak değerlendirilmeye alınmış ve katılımcı sayısı korunmuştur. Bir kongrede birden fazla bildiri sunan akademisyen sayısı ise tek katılımcı olarak dikkate alınmıştır.

This article aims to underline the main descriptive features of sociology congresses, both national and international, that were organized within the historical and intellectual scope of a hundred years history of Turkish sociology; to evaluate these activities within the developmental line of sociology in Turkey; to make evaluations about the composition of the congresses on the basis of universities, departments, and papers presented. This article is confined only to the sociology congresses, both national and international, organized in Turkey. The evaluations are based on the abstracts of the papers presented in these congresses, and on the published papers. In statistical analyses as far as the multi-authored papers are concerned, the number of presentation is considered to be one, and the number of participants is preserved. However, those academicians who have presented more than one paper in a congress are counted only once.
