YENİ OKURYAZARLIKLAR: TANIMI, KAPSAMI VE TEORİK İLKELERİ

Bu çalışmada son yıllarda okuryazarlık alanyazınında yeni bir araştırma konusu olan yeni okuryazarlıklar kavramı mevcut çalışmalar ışığında incelenmiştir. Bu bağlamda kavramın tanımı, kapsamı ve teorik ilkeri tartışılmıştır. İlk olarak İnternet ve yeni dijital araçların okuryazarlık kavramında yaptığı etkiler üzerinde durulmuştur. Burada okuryazarlığın hem bilişsel hem de sosyal yönlerine vurgu yapılmıştır. Daha sonra yeni okuryazarlıklar ve yeni okuryazarlık çalışmaları kavramları arasındaki farklar teorik ve kapsam yönünden ele alınmıştır. Bu iki kavramın ortak noktası olan yeni sıfatının taşıdığı anlamlara da değinilmiştir. Sonraki bölümde yeni okuryazarlıkların tanımınından bahsedilmiş ve farklı açılardan yeni okuryazarlıklar tanımı, dijital metin ve çevrimiçi okuma gibi özelliklerle açıklanmıştır. Yeni okuryazalıklar teorisi alanyazındaki gibi büyük ve küçük harfli teoriler olarak tartışılmıştır. Büyük harfli teorilerde genel olarak, yeni okuryazarlıkların özellikleri ve İnternetin bu okuryazarlıklardaki rolüne odaklanılmıştır. Küçük harfli okuryazarlık teorisinde ise İnternet üzerinde yapılan araştırma ve çevrimiçi okuma konuları incelenmiştir. Son bölümde yeni okuryazarlıkların eğitim öğretim sürecine olan etkileri ele alınmıştır. Bu bağlamda değişen öğretmen ve öğrenci rollerinden bahsedilmiştir. Daha sonra yeni okuryazarlıkların neden eğitim programlarının bir parçası olması gerektiği konusu tartışılmıştır. Eğitim sistemlerinde yeni okuryazarlıklarla ilgili yapılması gereken değişiklikler genel olarak ifade edilmiş ve ayrica eleştirel düşünme ve sosyal öğrenmenin yeni okuryazarlıklar için önemine değinilmiştir. Bütün bu değişiklikleri sisteme adapte etmek için çevrimiçi ya da yüz yüze hizmetiçi eğitimin önemi kısaca anlatılmıştır

NEW LITERACIES: DEFINITION, SCOPE, AND THEORETICAL UNDERPINNINGS

In this study, new literacies that are a new research field in recent years in literacy education were examined based on existing literature. In this context, the notion of new literacies, its’ scope and theoretical underpinnings were discussed. To this end, first the impacts of Internet and new information and communication technologies on literacy concept were argued. After that the differences between new literacies and new literacy studies concepts were addressed in terms of theoretical perspective and their scopes. Additionally, the meaning of the new adjective in these approaches was explained. In the next section, the notion of new literacies was defined and was explained from different aspects such as digital text and online reading. New literacies theory was discussed under two titles: the uppercase theory of new literacies and lowercase theory of new literacies. Under the uppercase theory of new literacies title, the features of new literacies and also the role of the Internet on new literacies; under the lowercase theory of new literacies title, the research on the Internet and online reading issues were discussed. In the last section, the impacts of new literacies on teaching learning were addressed. In this context, changing teachers’ and students’ roles examined. In addition to that the importance of critical thinking and social learning in new literacies was mentioned
