XIV.

PHILOSOPHY OF LOVE IN AŞIK PAŞA AS AN OPTIMISM PHILOSOPHY IN THE XIVTH CENTURY ANATOLİAN THOUGHT

Aşık Paşa, lived during the last times of the Anatolian Seljuks and the beginnings of the Ottoman Empire, reveals a systematic of thought within the Turk-Islam thought tradition which is the thought system of the geography in which he lives. In this context, when zoomed in thought systematic of Aşık Paşa, who fictionalized a philosophy of love as part of mysticism (tasavvuf) discipline which is the basic form of Anatolian thought. Such that, even though he revealed a systematic of thought as part of concept and category of mysticism, it is seen that he give place to many elements which exist in his approaches to the relationship of god and universe. Aşık Paşa, who explains the existence of the universe with the hypothesis of creation, activates the elements which carry the traces of Neoplatonism when he goes around the relationship of God-Universe. As follows: Aşık Paşa claims that the first thing that the God created is ‘’akl-küll’’ In this concept, Aşık Paşa says that the God loved for the first time and then made the others love him and he explains the approach of God to the whole existence, firstly to akl-ı küll with the affection light of the God. Aşık Paşa, who talks about love with regards to being the resource of the existence, indicates that the love is all about the eternal will of the God. Again he con substantiates mind, which is the first thing that the God created and the prophet. Thus even though Aşık Paşa in his thought of creature reveals the thoughts that resembles the ideas which the Islam philosophers reveals, he at the same time very openly displays the kind of behavior that he immingles the aforesaid perspectives with the religious thought which gets its colors from the mysticism (tasavvuf). Aşık Paşa, as can be understood from his nickname (means the Aşık who is in love), and as can be seen from his book Garibname, fictionalizes all this thought system around the metaphysic of love. Aşık Paşa repeatedly indicates that there is always a fire of love in his heart and in this way, he importunately indicates that he has found the truth with this way, in this manner, he remarks the epistemological value of love. It is seen that his understanding of morality is too leans on such a perspective of love. Aşık Paşa places the love as the reason of the existence, beyond that, he declares it as the instrument of an investigation about the core of the existence. When makes such an effort of grounding, he uses local elements and this is about his use of local materials in building the his system. The more important thing here is that this local material is processed in a philosophical manner. Because its an irresistible thing that every philosopher realizes his own thought production from his own flora. Aşık Paşa who approaches every fact and value in the center line of love starting from the appearance of the creature until the existence of the human, ultimately offers the human a love journey which will lead him to the God. It can be understood that Aşık Paşa, who supports the understanding of unity of existence (Vahdet-i Vücud) which is classical existence discipline of the sufistic thought. In this sense, it is seen that Aşık Paşa’s philosophy of love shows a road map of optimism to the human in his existential journey. In this sense, when Aşık Paşa talks about six poor-things, objects in his Garibname, he actually explains poor-fellows (Garib) the sense of the position of human in universe. Eventually Aşık Paşa constructs a philosophy of optimism with the love metaphysic that he implements. Aşık Paşa, when fictionalized such a thought system, has the aim of offering the human convincing arguments about the meaning of life.
