WELL-BEING LEVELS AS A PREDICTOR OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS' LEVEL OF STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
Student engagement; deals with the emotional attachment of students towards their schools. İt describes students' feelings, behaviors, and school experiences. It is thought that students' commitment to the school has a direct impact on their academic achievement and their preference for graduating the school or leaving the school. The purpose of this study is to examine whether well- being levels can predict student engagement at a meaningful level. The study group of the research is composed of 392 university students. The student engagement scale (Eliüşük-Bülbül and Yılmaz-Özelçi (2016)) and the PERMA well- being scale (Eliüşük-Bulbul (2016)) were used as the data collection tool in the study. Analysis of the data was performed by the Pearson Moments Multiplication Correlation Coefficient and Multiple Regression Analysis. In the analyzes performed, there was a significant relationship between the sub-dimensions of student engagement and the sub-dimensions of the well-being scale. In the regression models constructed in the study, it was seen that the well-being scale predicted with all its sub-dimesnions the activity sub-dimensions of student engagement and could not predict the behavioral and affective sub-dimension at a significant level. It is thought that these results can be used in other studies to increase student engagement at universities and can be a source for new studies.
