THE SYNTACTIC STRUCTURE OF ARTICLE TITLES IN THE FIELD OF TURKISH EDUCATION AND LITERATURE

In this study it was aimed to analyse the article titles in terms of syntactic structure in the field of Turkish education and literature. In this descriptive survey model study, randomly selected 200 title articles (100 in the field of Turkish education and 100 in the field of literature) from the journals indexed in Turkish National Databases and published between 2011-2016 were investigated. Descriptive ananlysis technique was used to evaluate the datas obtained. Expertisation method was followed for providing the study's reliability. According to the results of the study, it was obtained that mostly used titles in the field of Turkish education and literature were respectively the nominal structure (Turkish education f=47; literature f=58), the V-ing phrase structure (Turkish education f=38; literature f=22) and the compound structure (Turkish education f=14; literature f=17). Except these title types, it was identified that some title types as the full-sentence structure (Turkish education f=1; literature f=0), the prepositional phrase structure (Turkish education f=0; literature f=2) and conditional clause structure (Turkish education f=0; literature f=1) were used rarely. As for the types of compound structure, in analysed titles it was detected that topic-method (f=5) and topic-scope (f=3) were mostly preferred compound structure types in Turkish education; topic-scope (f=10) and metapfor-topic (f=4) were mostly preferred compound structure types in literature. Metaphor-topic was the second most common compound structure type in the field of literature, but it was not seen in the titles from Turkish education field. As to topic-method and topic-question seen in Turkish education field were not determined in literature field. In both of two fields, samples of name-method, questionmethod+source, metapfor-question, topic-method+source and questionmethod were not encountered
