Paul Gauguin’in Batı Kültürüne Karşı Duruşu Olarak Seramik Eserler

Bu çalışmada İzlenimcilik sonrası Batı sanatındaki en önemli öncülerden (avant-garde’lardan) biri olan Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin’in (1848-1903) seramikleri ele alınmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı Paul Gauguin’in seramik eserlerini Batı kültür tarihi içerisinde anlamlandırmaktır. Dekadanlık felsefesi ve seramik-toprakdoğa, primitif-uygarlık, varoluşçu psikolojide birey-toplum-sanat, modern sanatın primitife neden döndüğü gibi psikoloji ve medeniyetler tarihi alanlarına dair bağıntı ve sorunsallar çalışmanın fikrî çatısını oluşturur. İlk bölümde sanatçının seramik eserleri tanıtılmıştır. İkinci bölümde bu eserlerin primitif ile bağlantısı, bilinçaltı ve yaratım üzerinden yorumlanır. Bilinçaltının başat olduğu yaratımlarda groteskin anlamı sorgulanmış, ayrıca groteskin Batı dünyasında neden protest olarak karşılandığının psikolojik çözümlemesine yer verilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde Gauguin’in sanatındaki melankolinin kökeni incelenmiş; Batılı ‘insan imgesi’nden kaynaklı olduğu öne sürülmüştür. Son bölümde Batı Uygarlığı genel eleştirisi içerisinde Paul Gauguin’in duruşuna, çözüm önerisine ve bu önerinin gelecek kuşaklara yansısına yer verilmiştir. Güncel sanatın ilkel kültüre ilgisinin psikolojik ve toplumsal nedenleri tartışılmıştır. Gauguin’in politik duruş sergilediği ve seramik eserlerinin, Batı sanat ve kültür tarihinde önemli bir gösterge teşkil ettiği fikrine ulaşılmıştır

Ceramic Artworks of Paul Gauguin as a Stance Against to Western Culture

On this research, one of the most important avant-garde of Western Art after impressionism Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin’s (1848-1903) ceramic works are reviewed. The purpose of the research is explaining the meaning of Paul Gauguin’s ceramic artworks in the Western Culture History. The intellectual framework of the study consists of the relations and problematics in the fields of psychology and the history of civilizations, such as philosophy of decadence and ceramic-earth-nature, primitive-civilization, individualsociety-art in existential psychology, why modern art turns to primitives. In the first chapter artist’s ceramic artworks have been introduced. Relations between of these artworks and primitive have been interpretted based on the subconscious and creation in the second chapter. In the creations where the subconscious is dominant, the meaning of the grotesque has been questioned, and the psychological analysis of why the grotesque is regarded as protest in the Western world is included. In the third chapter, the origin of melancholy in Gauguin’s art was examined; It has been suggested that it originates from Western “human image”. In the last section, Paul Gauguin's stance, solution proposal and the reflection of this proposal to future generations are included. Psychological and societal reasons of contemporary art's attention to primitive culture has been discussed. It has been reached the idea that Gauguin took a political stance and his ceramics formed as an important indicator in the history of Western art and culture
