A STUDY ON THE IMPACT OF OCCUPATIONAL COMMITMENT ON WORK ENGAGEMENT IN ORGANIZATIONS

The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a meaningful relationship between employees’ level of commitment to the job and their level of work engagement and if there is a meaningful relationship, then the aim is to determine the impact of their professional engagement on the job commitment and to statistically examine the cases where the commitment to work differs according to the demographic factors. In accordance with this aim, data were obtained from 192 employees working in Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in Karabük. The obtained data were evaluated by SPSS program and analyzed by reliability, frequency, correlation, simple linear regression, Kruskal Wallis H and Mann-Whitney U tests. According to the result of analysis; it has been found that there is a significant relationship between the level of professional engagement of employees and their commitment to work at a very high level and positive direction, 68.7% of the change in job commitment is due to change in the level of engagement to work and a 1-unit increase in the level of employees' work engagement leads to a 1.530-unit increase in their professional commitment. The result of the difference analysis demonstrated that commitment to work did not show any significant difference according to sex, age, educational status and work experience, but showed a significant difference according to income level and field of sector. Thus; it has been determined that those who have an income between 1000-2000 TL and 2001-3000 TL and those who work in transportation and storage are at the highest level of commitment to work.
