Araştırmanın amacı lise öğrencilerinin okullarından beklentilerinin neler olduğunun belirlemektir. Bu bağlamda öğrencilerin idare, öğretmen, ders, materyal, fiziksel mekân, kıyafet ve kantinle ilgili beklentileri tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma nitel araştırma prosedürlerine uygun olarak yapılandırılmış yüz yüze görüşme tekniğiyle kurgulanmıştır. Araştırmanın katılımcıları TBMM Vakfı Bingöl Fen Lisesi’nde okuyan 15 öğrencidir. Katılımcıların 6’sı kadın, 9’u erkektir. Araştırmadaki okul kritik durum örneklemesine, katılımcılar ise tabakalı örnekleme yöntemine göre seçilmiştir. Buna göre lisedeki her sınıftan bir veya iki öğrenci ile görüşülmüştür. Araştırmanın veri toplama yöntemi yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniğidir. Görüşme formunda idare, öğretmenler, dersler, öğretim materyalleri, fiziksel mekân, kıyafet ve kantin kategorileri yer almaktadır. Araştırmanın veri analiz yöntemi içerik analizidir. Verilen cevaplar temalara göre kodlanmış, kodlar ve temalar arasındaki ilişkilere göre kategoriler oluşturulmuştur. Araştırmada, disiplinin hafifletilmesine, öğrencilere karşı daha fazla ilgi gösterilmesine, sosyal aktiviteler düzenlenmesine, sivil kıyafete izin verilmesine, adil davranılmasına, öğretmenlerin laboratuvar kullanmalarına, ders anlatımları esnasında sınıfla iletişim kurmalarına, müfredatla yetinmeyerek müfredata ilave bilgiler ile öğrenme işinin daha kolaylaştırılmasına, öğrencilerin bireysel anlama farklılıklarının göz önüne alınarak anlatım yapılmasına, sunum esnasında görsellik sağlayıcı araçlar kullanmasına, sınıf hâkimiyeti sağlanmasına, detaylara kayarak dersin zorlaştırılmamasına, sınıf seviyesine inilmesine, aktif ve enerjik olunmasına, öğretmenlerin orta yaşlı olmalarına, akıcı güzel Türkçe konuşulmasına, siyasî konulara girilmemesine, esprili olunmasına, ders saatlerinin kısaltılmasına, derslerin sabah dokuzdan önce başlamamasına, teneffüs sürelerinin arttırılmasına, hafta içi bir günde ders dışı sosyal aktivitelerin yapılmasına, programın sadeleştirilmesine, öğretim materyallerinin arttırılmasına, farklı illere gezi gözlem amaçlı seyahatler düzenlenmesine, spor, sanat ve bahçeye yönelik fiziksel mekân ile ilgili düzenlemeler yapılmasına ilişkin sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır.

The aim of the study was to determine what were the expectations of high school students from their schools. Within this scope, it was aimed to determine expectations about school administration, teachers, lessons, materials, physical space, clothes, and canteen. The research was structured by the interview technique in accordance with qualitative research procedures. Participants of the study were 15 students studying at TBMM Foundation Bingöl Science High School. 6 participants were female and 9 were male. Participants of the study were selected according to the stratified sampling method. Accordingly, one or two students from each class in the high school were selected. The school was selected according to critical case samling. The data collection method of the survey was a fully-structured interview technique. The interview form included categories of school administration, teachers, lessons, teaching materials, physical space, clothes and canteen. The data analysis method of the research was content analysis. The answers obtained were coded according to the themes, and categories were formed in line with the relation between codes and themes. In the research, results were obtained with regard to making discipline rules more lenient, showing more attention to the students, organizing social activities, allowing students to wear casual clothes. Students also asked for being treated fairly and demanded that teachers use laboratories, have interaction with the classroom while teaching, make learning easier with the information supplementary to the curriculum without being solely dependent on the curriculum, conduct lessons taking into consideration the individual comprehension differences of students, use tools that provide visualization during presentation, have classroom management, do not make lessons more difficult by delving into the details, adjust the level of lessons according to the students. Additionally, students expected teachers to be active and energetic, to be middle-aged, to speak good and fluent Turkish, not to talk about political issues, to be humorous, to shorten class hours. Other demands of students included not having classes before the 9 am, having longer break times, organization of extracurricular social activities on a weekday, simplification of the curriculum, enhanced teaching materials, organization of excursion and sightseeing trips outside the city, and making physical arrangements for sports, arts and gardens.
