Lise öğrencilerinin “iklim” kavramıyla ilgili zihinsel imgeleri (metaforları)

Bu araştırma, lise öğrencilerinin “İklim” kavramına ilişkin sahip oldukları metaforları belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmaya 2009–2010 eğitim-öğretim yılında, Karabük şehrindeki iki lisede öğrenim gören öğrencilerden toplam 108’i katılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri, öğrencilerin “İklim… gibidir. Çünkü…….” cümlesini tamamlamasıyla sağlanmıştır. Toplanan verilerin analiz edilmesi ve yorumlanması, nitel araştırma yöntemi içerisindeki olgu bilim desenli içerik analiz tekniğiyle yapılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre; lise öğrencileri “iklim” kavramına ilişkin toplam 39 adet geçerli metafor meydana getirmiştir. Bu metaforlar ortak özelliklerine gore 8 farklı kavramsal kategoriye ayrılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda, “iklim” kavramını lise öğrencilerinin % 45,45’i değişimin ifadesi, % 11,36’sı bilimin ifadesi, % 10,23’ü yaşamın ifadesi, % 10,23’ü belirsizliğin ifadesi, % 9,09’u farklılığın ifadesi, % 9,09’u gereksinimin ifadesi, % 3,41’i doğal olayların ifadesi ve % 1,14’ü sürekliliğin ifadesi olarak algıladıkları ortaya çıkmıştır.

The mental images (metaphors) of high school students about “climate” concept

This research has been conducted to reveal the metaphors of high school students about “climate” concept. About 108 students attending two high schools in Karabük city centre joined the research within 2009-2010 academic year. The research datum were obtained by students’ completing the sentence “Climate is like ......because........”. Phenomenology design within Qualitative Research Method’s Content Analysis Technique was used to analyze and interpret the collected datum. According to the outcome of the research high school students has created 39 different and exceptible metaphors related to “climate” concept. These metaphors were classified under 8 different conceptual categories after studied carefully with regard to common qualities. At the end of the research, It was understood that 45,45 % of the high school students has a perception that climate is a way of expressing change ,11,36 % of the those perceived that it is a way of expressing science; 10,23 % of the students perceive climate as a way of expressing life, 10,23 % of them perceived it as a way of expressing ambiguity, 9,09 % of the students have a perception that climate is a way of expressing diferentiation, 9,09 % of the students perceive it as a way of expressing requirement, 3,41 % of the students perceived it as a way of expressing natural events and 1,14 % of the students perceived it as a way of expressing continuity.
