İki Kuşak Çerçevesinde Anne-Baba ve Çocuklarının Psikolojik Uyum ve Ebeveyn Kabul-Ret Algıları Açısından İncelenmesi

Araştırmada çocukların genel psikolojik uyumunun yordanmasında anne-babanın psikolojik uyumlarınınve anne-babanın kabul-ret davranışlarının göreceli katkıları iki kuşak çerçevesinde incelenmiştir. Araştırmaçerçevesinde 2 temel soruya cevap aranmaktadır. Bunlardan ilki “Çocukların genel psikolojik uyumununyordanmasında anne ve babasının psikolojik uyumlarının göreceli katkıları nelerdir?” ve diğeri de “Çocuklarıngenel psikolojik uyumunun yordanmasında anne ve babanın kabul-ret davranışlarının göreceli katkılarınelerdir?” sorularıdır. Verileri 2019 yılında toplanan araştırmanın katılımcıları, Eskişehir ilinde yaşayan 54anne-baba ve 9-17 yaş arası 54 çocuktan oluşmaktadır. Veri toplama araçları olarak Yetişkin Ebeveyn Kabul-Ret Ölçekleri (EKRÖ), Yetişkin Kişilik Değerlendirme Ölçeği (KİDÖ), Çocuk Ebeveyn Kabul-Ret Ölçekleri(EKRÖ/Ç) ve Çocuk/Ergen Kişilik Değerlendirme Ölçeği (KİDÖ/Ç) kullanılmıştır. Ölçekler zarf içerisindekatılımcılara teslim edilmiştir. Anneler, babalar ve çocuklar ölçekleri kendileri doldurmuşlar ve zarfları kapalışekilde araştırmacıya teslim etmişlerdir. Kuşaklar açısından bulunan sonuçlardan en dikkat çekici olanı,çocuğun psikolojik uyumu ile anne-babasının çocukken ebeveynleriyle ilişkide algılamış oldukları kabul-retarasında anlamlı bir ilişkinin bulunamayışıdır. Yapılan Aşamalı Regresyon Analizi sonuçlarına göre çocuklarıngenel psikolojik uyumunun anne-babanın psikolojik uyumu tarafından yordanmasında en güçlü ve anlamlıyordayıcı değişkenler annenin duygusal tutarlılık ve babanın duygusal tepkisizlik boyutları iken, çocuklarıngenel psikolojik uyumunun çocuğun algıladığı ebeveyn kabul-reddi davranışları tarafından yordanmasında tekyordayıcı değişken annenin saldırganlık boyutudur. Bulgular literatür çerçevesinde Kabul-Red Kuramı vekuşaklar arası ilişkiler açısından tartışılmıştır.

Psychological Adjustment and Parental Acceptance-Rejection Perceptions across Two Generations

Drawing from parental acceptance-rejection theory (PARTheory), the present study investigated parents’ and their children’s perceptions of parental acceptance-rejection and its effects on psychological adjustment. Present study attempted to answer two main questions: 1) What are the relative contributions of parents’ psychological adjustment in predicting children’s general psychological adjustments? 2) What are the relative contributions of parents’ acceptance-rejection behaviors in predicting children’s psychological adjustment? One hundred eight parents and 54 children living in Eskişehir between the ages of 9-17 participated in the study. Four self-report questionnaires were used to assess both children’s and their parents’ perceptions of parental acceptance and their psychological adjustment: Adult Parent Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire (Adult PARQ), Adult Personality Assessment Questionnaire (Adult PAQ), Child Parent Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire (Child PARQ) and Child Personality Assessment Questionnaire (Child PAQ). One of the important results concerning relations between the two generations was that parents’ perceptions of parental acceptance-rejection in childhood were not found to be significantly related to their children’s overall psychological adjustment. According to the results of stepwise multiple regression analysis, mothers’ emotional stability and hostility, as well as fathers’ emotional unresponsiveness significantly predicted children’s psychological adjustment. The findings were discussed within the framework of Acceptance- Rejection Theory and the relations among generations.
