OUTDOOR LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS IN SCIENCE EDUCATION

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of outdoor learning activities on science teacher candidates' attitudes toward science teaching and self-efficacy beliefs in planning and organizing educational trips to out of school environments. The study was conducted in the course of "Outdoor learning environments”.14-week teaching activity plan has been prepared and implemented for the study. In this process, science teacher candidates made preparations to organize educational trips in teams, environments set by the researchers, made visits and made presentations about their visits. In order to determine the attitudes of the teacher candidates towards science education and self-efficacy beliefs in planning and organizing educational trips to out of school environments, the "Science Instruction Attitude Scale " and the " Self-Efficacy Beliefs İn Planning And Organizing Educational Trips To Out Of School Environments Scale" was applied as pre- and post-test. As a result of the analysis of quantitative data, it was determined that out-of- school learning activities increased the teachers' self-efficacy beliefs for educational purposes, but did not have a significant effect on attitudes towards science teaching. As a result of the analysis of qualitative data, it was determined that the teacher candidates were happy to be in the outdor learning environments and that the outdoor learning environments contributed to the cognitive-emotional and life skills.
