IDENTIFIYING THE RESEARCH ASSISTANTS' VIEWS ABOUT THE USE OF SOCIAL NETWORKS IN EDUCATION
Scientific research studies can be reached easily and quickly with the developing technologies. Social networks have contributed to scientific work by facilitating information accessing, sharing and providing communication. It is therefore important that research assistants at the first level of the academic community use social networks in postgraduate scientific research. From this point of view, the aim of this research is to determine the views of research assistants attending to postgraduate education on the use of social networks. In the research the case study was used. The research group of the study consisted of 7 research assistants attending postgraduate education at different universities determined by maximum variation sampling. In the survey, data was collected through semi-structured interview forms. Data obtained by the interviews were analyzed using content analysis. In line with the views of the research assistants, four themes were defined as entertainment, education, acquiring and sharing the information and communication. In these themes, in-depth analyzes were done by content analysis. According to the results obtained from the research, it was determined that the research assistants used the social networks mostly for acquiring and sharing the information and then for communication. According to another research result, the negative effects of social networks was determined as changing their relationship patterns. In addition, research assistants see the use of social networks as useful in providing information easily and quickly and providing a variety of information.
