OKUL ÖNCESİ EĞİTİMİ ÖĞRETMEN ADAYLARININ MESLEKİ MOTİVASYONLARI
Birey için yaşamda karar alırken önemli rol oynayan etkenlerden biri motivasyondur. Motivasyon kişinin bir durum veya bir olaya yoğunlaşmasını, harekete geçmesini sağlayan içsel ve dışsal bir takım unsurlardan oluşan bir kavramdır. İçsel motivasyon bireyin kendi istek arzu ve heyecanları kaynaklı iken dışsal motivasyon durumla ilgili para, konum gibi bir takım etkenleri barındırır. Motivasyon öğrenme için ön koşul olduğu gibi meslek seçiminde de derin etkilere sahiptir. Öğretmenlik mesleği kişiye yüklediği sorumluluklar açısından oldukça derin motivasyon gerektiren mesleklerdendir. Öğretmen adaylarının meslek ve alan seçimlerin hangi tür motivasyon etkenlerinin rol oynadığı onların mesleklerine olan saygı, bağlılık ve sorumluluk düzeylerini de etkileyecektir. Ayrıca eğitim fakültelerinin de öğretmen adaylarını mesleğe ve alana motive etme konusunda sorumlulukları bulunmaktadır. Bu görüşlerden hareketle çalışmanın amacı, okul öncesi öğretmen adaylarının alan seçimi ile alan eğitimi sürecinde motivasyon kaynaklarının incelenerek elde edilen bulgular ışığında öneriler sunmaktır. Bu doğrultuda nitel ve nicel araştırma yöntemleri bir arada kullanılarak konunun derinlemesine incelenmesi hedeflenmiştir. Araştırmanın verileri Meslek ve Alan Seçiminde Motivasyon Ölçeği ile 2016-2017 bahar yarıyılında toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini Okul Öncesi Eğitimi Anabilim Dalında öğrenim gören birinci ve dördüncü sınıflara devam eden 215 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmanın nitel boyutunda ise gönüllük esas olmak üzere 40 öğretmen adayı ile görüşme gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre, dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin içsel alanmotivasyonları, birinci sınıf öğrencilerinden daha yüksektir. Ayrıca bulgular, ders dışı mesleki kurs ve eğitimlere katılmayan öğrencilerin dışsal motivasyonlarının katılan öğrencilerden daha yüksek olduğunu göstermektedir. Nitel verilerden elde edilen sonuçlarda ise okul öncesi öğretmen adaylarının bu alanı seçmelerindeki ilk nedenin çocukları sevme olduğu bunu sırasıyla lise eğitimi (meslek lisesi), üniversite sınavında puanların bu bölümü tutması, atamaların kolay olması, çalışma şartlarının iyi olması gibi nedenlerinin takip ettiği görülmüştür.
PRE-SERVICE PRESCHOOL TEACHERS’ MOTIVATIONS FOR TEACHING PROFESSION
Motivation is one of the factors that play an important role in individuals’ decision making. It is a concept consisting of a number of internal and external elements that stimulates people to act or behave in a particular way. While, intrinsic motivation associated with the individual's own desires and excitements, external motivation involves a number of factors related to an activity itself, such as reward, earning etc.. The teaching is one of the professions that needs a strong motivation since personal responsibilities are excessive. Motivational factors of pre-service teachers' choice of occupation and subject area is also important because it will effect their level of respect, commitment and responsibility toward teaching. In addition, faculty of education also has a responsibility to motivate prospective teachers both to the profession and to the field. Based on the ideas mentioned above, this study aims to understand preschool teacher candidates’ entrance and ongoing motivation to become an early childhood educators. This mix method study consists of both qualitative and quantitative data collection and data analyzes techniques. The participants of the study are total of 215, first and last year students, enrolled in department of early childhood education. Data were collected through Motivational scale and the interviews hold during the spring semester of 2016-2017. The results of the study indicated that the 4th year students have higher intrinsic field level than the 1st year students. Another research finding suggests that candidates who did not participate in the courses and trainings outside of the class work have significantly higher external motivation from the candidates enrolled in different courses and training. The interviews with participants indicated that loving children is the first reason to choose their field followed by high school education type, college entrance score, easy to be assigned and good work conditions.
