Elektronik Dergi Kullanımı ile Bilim Dalı İlişkisi: Betimleyici Bir İnceleme

Bu makalenin temel amacı, bilim dalının discipline elektronik dergi kullanımını belirleyen bir "etken" olup olmadığını İstanbul Üniversitesi örneğinde incelemektir. Bu amacı gerçekleştirmek üzere İstanbul Üniversitesi öğretim üyelerine Ekim 2005 - Şubat 2006 tarihleri arasında uygulanan web tabanlı bir kullanıcı incelemesinin user survey verilerinden yararlanılmıştır. Sonuçlar göstermektedir ki, hem bilim dalı ile e-dergilerin 'kullanım sıklığı', hem de bilim dalı ile for- mat tercihi' arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki vardır. Ayrıca, elde edilen sonuçlar e-dergi kullanımının 'bilim dalı' kadar, e-dergilerin 'elde edilebilirliği' availability ile de ilişkili olabileceğini göstermektedir.

The Relationship between E-JournalUse and User's Discipline: ADescriptive Study

The main purpose of this study is to examine the effect of discipline as an explanatory factor on e-journal use in the Istanbul University context. In order to meet this goal, the data used in this study were collected by a web based user survey conducted to examine the e-journal use of Istanbul University Faculty between the dates of October 2005 and February 2006. The results revealed that discipline was statistically significantly associated with both the 'frequency of use' and 'format preferences'. The results also suggest that the availability of e-journals might be a factor of the e-journal use.
