Effects of spinning system on yarn properties

In this study, the properties of yarns spun in different spinning systems were compared in the light of the literature. Ring, compact, rotor, air-jet, vortex and friction spinning systems were evaluated within the scope of the work. Compact, rotor, air-jet, vortex and friction systems, developed in recent years, have become important through some advantages in yarn properties and production speeds. However, ring spinning is still the most widely used system and it is also accepted as the reference method. A general evaluation of the literature may conclude that vortex yarns are the least hairy, compact yarns are the most even and the strongest and friction yarns have the best elongation. Furthermore, compact yarns also have the least friction coefficient values.
