Experimental investigation of relation between warp and weft crimps and warp tension in plain weave woven fabrics

Relation between warp crimp and warp tension and weft crimp and warp tension is investigated experimentally for plain weave grey woven fabrics. Twisted poliester warp yarn and textured twisted poliester and cotton carded ring spun weft yarns are used in weaving fabrics. It is shown that an increase in warp tension decreases warp crimp and increases weft crimp. It is observed from the slope of regression equations that warp crimp decreases more with increasing warp tension as weft yarn gets thicker and/or weft density increases. It is also observed from the slope of regression equations that increase in warp tension increases weft crimp change as weft density becomes higher and increase in weft crimp with warp tension decreases with weft yarn getting thicker.
