COVID-19’s Effects on Environmental Values

It is estimated that COVID-19 will negatively affect much more people than the deaths and economic losses caused by other epidemics experienced worldwide. In additionto the effects it has caused since the day it started until now, COVID-19 also constitutes an unquestionable threat in terms of human health and global environmental changes such as soil degradation, depletion of the ozone layer and urbanization. This article discusses the pandemics that have been experienced in history, and the effects of COVID-19 on the environment are emphasized as the focus point. The study shows that there is a significant relationship between the emergency precautions taken during the COVID-19 process and improvement in air quality, clean beaches and reduction of environmental noise, while it attracts attention to reduced amount of recycling, waste management and pollution of physical spaces (water and soil).
