Pisidia Bölgesi şehir sikkeleri üzerindeki Hermes tasvirleri

Pisidia bölgesi’nde ele geçen sikkeler üzerinde Hermes tasvirini Adada, Antiokheia, Ariassos, Baris, Etenna, Isinda, Kodroula, Komama, Kremna, Olbasa, Prostanna, Sagalassos, Seleukeia Sidera, Selge, Sibidounda, Termessos, Timbriada ve Tityassos kenti olmak üzere toplam 18 kentin sikkeleri üzerinde görmekteyiz. Bu sikkeler üzerinde Hermes’in toplam üç ana tipi saptanmıştır. Ayakta Duran Hermes tipi, Oturan Hermes tipi ve Hermes başı-büstü tipi. Üzerinde Hermes tasvirinin yer aldığı en erken sikke M.Ö. 1. yüzyıla aitken, en geç sikke ise II. Claudius Gothicus dönemine (M.S. 268-270) aittir. Bu bölgenin sikkeleri üzerinde Hermes’in daha çok haberci tanrı ve ticaret tanrısı olması vurgulanırken, bazı kentlerde de Hermes’in dinsel kimliği ön plana çıkarılmıştır

Hermes Representation on Civic Coins of the Pisidia Region

Hermes representation are determined on the coins of 18 cities in Pisidia such as Adada, Antiochia, Ariassus, Baris, Etenna, Isinda, Codrula, Comama, Cremna, Olbasa, Prostanna, Sagalassus, Seleucia Sidera, Selge, Sibidounda, Termessus, Timbriada and Tityassus. Three main group of Hermes representation in total are determined on coins. These group are, respectively, Standing Hermes, Sitting Hermes and the head or bust of Hermes. The earliest coin with Hermes figure in Pisidia is from 1st century BC and the latest coins are from 268-270 AD which is the Age of Claudius Gothicus. On the coins of this region, Hermes is mostly characterized as the messenger of gods and the god interested in trade. Also, in some cities the religious identity of Hermes has been to the forefront
