Investigation of the Attitudes of Public and Private Sector Employees to Participate in Physical Activity

The aim of this study is to determine the attitudes of the employees with intense work tempo regarding participation in physical activity and to give suggestions about the results obtained in order to gain the habit of participating in physical activity. Descriptive method was used in this study which was designed according to quantitative research model. 396 participants participated in the study. “Personal Information Form” and “Cognitive Behavioral Physical Activity Questionnaire” were applied to the participants. T-test, One Way ANOVA and Post Hoc test statistics were used to analyze the data. According to the findings of the study, a significant difference was observed in the sub-dimension of the scale's expectation of outcome according to the gender variable, while no statistically significant difference was observed in the marital status, occupational status and age variables. There were statistically significant differences in self-regulation and personal barriers subscales of Cognitive Behavioral Physical Activity Questionnaire in terms of income status and educational status variables. As a result, it was found that in the participation of regular physical activity, males expect more results than women. Age and marital status did not affect participation in the activity, but it was determined that education level and income level affected their participation in regular physical activity. According to the results of the research, it is seen that employees participate in regular physical activities, whether public or private sector, with some restrictions. It is concluded that employees who want to participate in activities but fail to develop strategies to overcome these limitations have different expectations from regular physical activities.
