The State of Ethnicity With Respect to Modernity

The relationship between modernity and ethnicity can not be fully evaluated without signifying the conceptual constraints while paying attention to modernity's historical and political perspectives. Therefore, we have first demonstrated the process in which the term ethnicity has gained its contemporary conceptual meaning analytically in a partially phenomenal manner. Then, we have taken in hand the approaches of modern paradigms such as liberalism, republicanism and socialism about ethnicity; and we have discussed whether ethnicity constitutes a problem for the elements of language, education, citizenship, etc. which are embedded within the political subject of modern politics, the nation state. Finally, we have focused on the transformations and consequences that challenge nation states, which have been brought about by the process of globalization.
