Türkiye'de Elektrik Tüketimi ve Ekonomik Gelişmişlik Düzeyi İlişkisi: Yatay Kesit Analizi

Enerji tüketimi, özellikle de elektrik tüketimi ekonomik gelişmenin bir sonucu olarak yıllar itibari ile artmış ve bu araştırmacıların ve politika yapıcıların elektrik tüketiminin ekonomik büyümeye katkısı konusuna odaklanmasına yol açmıştır. Konu, enerji politikalarının dikkatlice tasarlanması gerektiğini ima ettiğinden, genellikle nedenselliğin yönü bağlamında ele alınmıştır. Bu çalışma, bu ilişkiyi yatay-kesit analizi uygulayarak ve Türkiye’nin 81 İl verilerini kullanarak ampirik olarak incelemektedir. Ampirik sonuçlar, elektrik tüketiminin hem gelir hem de katma değer seviyesine pozitif olarak katkı yaptığını göstermektedir. Bu bulgu, elektrik tüketiminin büyüme için potansiyel bir kısıt olduğunu ima etmekte ve dolayısıyla yeterli elektrik üretimini sürdürmek için gerekli önlemlerin geciktirilmeden alınması gerektiğini ortaya koymaktadır.
