The comparison of the metaphorical process of comprehension in the context of Freud's “Dreamwork”, compared with Quintilian, Davidson, Chomsky and Jakobson

The metaphorical structure gives the text the atmosphere of a dream. This becomes clearer with the analysis of certain stages of the process of understanding: (1) The work of “condensation” is the first of these. The use of the symbols (2) equals the “displacement” work. The system has to do with (3) the “consideration of representation”. The last part, so the context is like explaining the text with things that do not belong to the text. Especially the “interpretation” goes into the scope of (4) “secondary revision”. In this regard, Freud’s “dream system” is very appropriate for the metaphorical explanation. Undoubtedly, the analysis of the process with the help of Quintilian, Davidson, Chomsky and Jakobson will be much more stable. With examples of Sabahattin Ali, whocould transform this process into a literary attitude, we will reinforce the theoretical information.
