Uluslararası İlişkiler disiplininin temel konularından birisi olan güvenlik, kavramsal ve teorik çerçevede oldukça farklı perspektiflerle ele alınan bir kavramdır. Özellikle eleştirel teorilerin yaptığı katkılarla artık neyin güvenli ya da güvensiz olduğunun tekrar düşünülmesi gerekmektedir. Bu çalışma 11 Eylül sonrasında ABD’nin güvenlik algılamalarında meydana gelen gelişmeleri farklı perspektiflerle ele almaya çalışmaktadır. Bunu yaparken de bizzat güvenlik kavramını tartışmaya açarak ABD’nin 11 Eylül sonrasında pratiğe döktüğü politikalarını anlamaya çalışmaktadır.

Security as one of the main issues discussed by IR colleagues has been explained with different theoric and conceptual perspectives. Due to new contributions of critical approachs in IR, it has been necessary to re-think about what is secure or not. This paper tries to discuss the term of “security” and find out the changes in foreign policies of the USA after 9/11. So the theoric approachs, conceptual discussions and historical events have been the main parts of the paper
