The demand for electricity in Turkey by sectors is estimated and the causality relation between electricity consumption and national income is tested in this study. Empirical results obtained by using the models of coentegration and vector error correction show that the national income and electricity consumption are coentegrated and there is a causality relation from electricity consumption toward the national income. It is also determined that the short-run income elasticities in all the sectors are less than unity while long-run income elasticities are greater than unity.
