THE REFLECTIONS OF ABOLITION OF THE CALIPHATE IN AUSTRIA PRESS
After the conquest of the Mamluk Sultanate, the Khilafis authority, which was taken over with the relics, provided a spiritual authority for the Ottoman sultans. After the abolition of the sultanate on 3 March 1924, the new parliament was abolished and the last caliph Abdülmecid Efendi was sent out of the country together with his family. This event, which has a wide resonance in the Islamic world, has been followed with interest in Europe. In fact, the European press began to announce the event on the front page of the newspapers within a few days, and they continued to interpret the concept of the Khilafah for a long time, despite the fact that the news was reduced. The abolition of the Khilafah was carried out much more widely in the newspapers published in Europe and was published in the newspapers as reports. In the same way, it is seen that the removal of the Hilâfet in newspapers published in Austria is detailed. In this study, the reflections of the abolition of the Khilafah and the subsequent events in the Austrian press will be reflected. In this context, the journey of Abdulmecid Efendi, who travels with his family to Europe, the station of this exile and the events in this process will be tried to clarify. In addition, the news of the new formations planned by the European states, instead of the removed Caliphate authority, will also be screened.
