In order create a distinct personality you must decide on the basis of the text and your own perceptions just how your character would behave and why. Among the factors to be considered are the motives of the character, the kinds of conflicts he encounters, and the peculiar behavioral patterns the character uses. Commonly the conflicts are selected and heightned for dramatic and illustrative effect. Since this is the case, an analysis of your character's personality traits and circumtances should be very helpful in developing a convincing and interesting performance.
