Evaluation of DXF data files to reconstruct 3D models from orthographic views

In this study, a program for automatically reconstruction of 3D solid models from 2D drawings has been developed. VisualLISP was used as a programming langauage. DXF format (Data Interchange Format) was used to reconstruct 3D models from 2D orthographic views generated by the user in AutoCAD. Computer program saves the orthographic views of 2D prismatic parts in DXF format. Having been evaluated the geometric information in DXF format by the program primary and secondary primitives of prismatic solids are obtained by rotational and linear sweeping operations. Then, secondary primitives are subtracted from primary primitives by Boolean operations. Prismatic final solid models are obtained by combining of primary primitives.
