Effect of processing temperature and wire feeding rate on the properties of Ag nanopowders produced by inert gas condensation method

Effect of production temperature and wire feeding rate on the size, shape, morphology and specific surface area of the particles were investigated during the production of Ag powders by Inert Gas Condensation method. Silver nanopowders were produced in helium atmosphere at 1200-1800 $\circ_C$ temperatures with the wire feeding rates of 0.30-I.50 g/min. Powder shape, size, morphology and the specific surface area of the particles were investigated. It was found that an increase in production temperature and wire feeding rate resulted in coarser particles with less spherical in shape. The ideal wire feeding rate and temperature for this study were found to be 1 g/min and 1500 $\circ_C$ respectively.
