A Comparison of Teacher Interpersonal Profiles in General and Vocational Schools Depending on the Students’ Perceptions

The purpose of the study was to examine associations between Turkish vocational and general education students' perceptions of their science teachers' interpersonal behaviour and degree to which these perceptions are different (according to school type) taking into account other background variables. Data were collected utilizing the adapted version of the Questionnaire on Teacher Interaction (QTI). A total of students 1377 (Grades 9 to 11) in 49 science classes at two types of schools (general and vocational education) were involved in the study. Correlation and regression analyses revealed that students’ perceptions were different in both education types. Compared to general high school Uncertain/ Aggressive and Repressive profiles were found little higher in number in vocational schools. Beside these, it was the first time that Uncertain/Aggressive teacher profile was found in our country in this study.
