SOME OBSERVATIONS ABOUT SETTLEMENT OF CHECHEN IMMIGRANTS TO TOMARZA

When we talk about Ottoman Empire and Migration, there comes out an issue that has to be considered in a lot of different angles. Bacause, Ottoman Empire has socially, demographically, economically, culturally changed after the increasment of migration. Russian development and expansion policy containing; forcing nonorthodox public to tergiversate, settle Russian immigrants to fertile lands is a very important effect for increasment of migration. Result of this effect is force thousands of people to leave their motherland. Espacially after Crimean War, Ottoman Empire settled a lot of immigrants from North Caucasia to Anatolia in the name of Islam and humanity. The migration was individual at first but after 1860 it turned into a massive movement and an intensity can be observed between 1860-1864. Chechens came as a poorly populated folk between all those people whom settled down to Anatolia. In this study we researched when Chechen immigrants came to Tomarza, their population and condition under the light of Ottoman Archive documents.
