AN INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO ELEMENTARY SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES EDUCATION RELATIONS IN TERMS OF HISTORY OF SCIENCE

This interdisciplinary study was carried out by document analysis technique Both Elementary Science and Social Studies Education Curricula were examined in terms of “history of science”. Since both subjects have such subject, similar and related objectives are needed to be compared at part of inventions and inventors. This study therefore examines the objectives of both subjects from 4through 7 grades with an interdisciplinary viewpoint. .The study suggests that the objectives about “history of science” of both subjects are not simultaneous in planning time. It is also identified that both objectives have inadequate content to support each other. As a result, the study points out important suggestions regarding the correct use of objectives in scope and sequence of curriculum planning of both subjects
