This study was conducted to investigate the effect of emotional intelligence on psychosocial symptoms due to hospitalization in children as a correlational relational screening model. The study was carried out with 99 children aged 11-12 years who were in public hospital at Zonguldak between January-April 2019. “Personal Information Form”, “Psychosocial Symptom Diagnosis Scale for Inpatient Children” and “Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire–Adolescent Short Form Adaptation” were used. 42,4% of the children were female and %57,6 were male. 31,3% of the children had complaints for five days, all of them were hospitalized for an acute reason, 41,4% were on the third day of hospitalization. The emotional intelligence levels of the children were moderate and the psychosocial symptoms were low. Psychosocial symptoms such as anxiety, regression, hopelessness and communication weakness were found to be decreased as the emotional intelligence level of the children increased. It has been determined that the probability of psychosocial symptoms decreases as the time of onset of complaints increases, and the probability of psychosocial symptoms increases as the hospitalization day increases.
