Oyun Tasarımcısı Ortaöğretim Öğrencileri: PowerPoint Oyun Tasarımının Sözcük Hazinesi Kazanımına Etkisi

Oyun insan doğasının temel bir parçasıdır. Küçük yaşlarda başlayan oyun oynama güdüsü hayatın her aşamasında kendini gösterir. İnsanın oyuna olan ilgisi eğitimcilerin oyunları derslerinde kullanmaya sevk etmiştir. Buradan hareketle, bu araştırmanın amacı, ortaöğretim İngilizce dersinde öğrenciler tarafından PowerPoint programı ile oyun tasarımının öğrencilerin kelime hazinesi edinimine etkisinin araştırılmasıdır. Araştırmada deney grubundaki Ortaöğretim 11.sınıf öğrencileri (N=42) İngilizce dersi prefixes (önekler) konusunda oyun hazırlayarak öğrenirken, kontrol grubunda (N=42) ise geleneksel yöntem ile aynı konu işlenmiştir. Kontrol ve deney grupları homojen olup deneyden önce ön-teste tabi tutulmuşlar ve aralarında anlamlı bir fark tesbit edilmemiştir.. Deneyden sonra, her iki gruba on ve son akademik başarı testi uygulanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde ortaya çıkan sonuçlar incelendiğinde, PowerPoint programı ile oyun hazırlayan deney grubunun son test puanlarıyla, geleneksel yöntemin uygulandığı kontrol grubunun son test puanları arasında anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmuştur Yapılan araştırmanın sonucu, bir konuyu PowerPoint yazılımı kullanarak oyun tasarımı yapan öğrencilerin sözcük hazinesi kazanımlarının, geleneksel yöntemle öğrenim gören öğrencilerden daha fazla olduğunu göstermektedir. Bu sonuç göstermektedir ki PowerPoint ile oyun hazırlama etkinliği öğrencilerin derse aktif olarak katılmalarını sağlamakta, öğrencilerin derse olan ilgilerini arttırmaktadır.
