Fen Ders Kitaplarında Sunulan Bilim İnsanlarının Basmakalıp Bilim İnsanı İmajı Açısından Değerlendirilmesi

Bu çalışmanın amacı ortaokul beş, altı, yedi ve sekizinci sınıf fen ders kitaplarında sunulan bilim insanı imajlarını incelemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda araştırmada ortaokullarda Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı tarafından ders materyali olarak kullanılması onaylanan ve okullarda kullanılan dört kitap incelenmiştir. Bu kitaplar Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı’nın internet sitesinden indirilmiştir. İnternet sitesinde altı, yedi ve sekizinci sınıf Fen ve Teknoloji ders kitaplarından birer örnek olduğundan bu kitaplarda herhangi bir seçime gidilmemiştir. Fakat internet sitesinde beşinci sınıflar için iki farklı yayınevi tarafından basılan Fen Bilimleri ders kitabı olduğundan, bu kitaplardan Milli Eğitim Basımevi’nin kitabı amaçlı olarak seçilmiştir.  Araştırmada nitel araştırma tekniklerinden doküman inceleme yaklaşımı kullanılmıştır. Bu teknik doğrultusunda dört kitap analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda kitaplarda sunulan bilim insanı figürlerinin sayıca orantısız olduğu ve bazı bilim insanlarının birden fazla kitapta sunulduğu bulunmuştur. Ayrıca kitaplarda sunulan bilim insanlarının çoğunluğunun Avrupa kökenli, erkek ve orta çağ ve eski yunandaki kalıplaşmış bilim insanı figürleri olup hayat öyküsü verilen bilim insanı sayısının da çok az olduğu bulunmuştur.  Bu çerçevede kitaplarda bayan, farklı kültürden ve hayat öyküsü olan bilim insanlarının sayısının artırılması gerektiği düşünülmektedir. Bunun yanında Fen ve Teknoloji öğretmenlerinin bayan ve farklı kültürden bilim insanlarının hayat öyküleriyle öğretim ortamlarını desteklemeleri gerektiği ileri sürülebilir.
