“Dede Korkut” destanı Oğuznamelerin klasik örnegi gibi Oğuz boylarına ait olsa da genellikle Türk destan geleneğinin orta yüzyıllarda yazıya alınmış en mükemmel bir anıtıdır. Bundan dolayı destanın dilinin lingüistik, poetik tahlili destanın metninin mazmun bütünselliğinin sağlanması ve genellikle Türk dili tarihinin değişik dönemleri arasındaki ilişkilerin kanıtlanması için son derece önemlidir.
