RETORİKTE ALAN TEMELLİ DÖNÜŞ VE KATILIMCI ELEŞTİREL RETORİK

Retorik teorisi, doğduğu Antik Yunan’da ikna teknikleri, güzel ve doğru konuşma yetisi gibi pedagojik ve işlevsel bir anlama sahip olmuştur. Antik Yunan’daki bu anlamıyla beraber uzun yıllar aynı yaklaşımla ele alınan retorik teorisi Klasik Retorik geleneği olarak bilinmektedir. 20. yüzyılda sosyal bilimlerde anti-pozitivizmin gelişmesi ve dil üzerine odaklanan çalışmaların artmasıyla beraber retorik teorisinin anlamı ve alanı dönüşmeye başlamıştır. Yeni Retorik olarak adlandırılmaya başlanan bu yönelimde retorik araştırmacıları retoriğin anlamını ikna tekniklerinden özdeşleşmeye kaydırmıştır. Retoriğin üretildiği anı ve bağlamı dikkate almanın gerekliliğine vurgu yapan yeni retorik geleneği ile birlikte retorik analizleri çok çeşitli alanlara yayılmıştır. Bu makalede, yeni retorik alanında nitel araştırma yöntemlerinin kullanılmasıyla, retoriği doğal ortamında incelemeyi mümkün kılan katılımcı eleştirel retorik yaklaşımının teorileştirilme aşamaları ve temel özellikleri anlatılmaktadır.

FIELD-BASED TURN IN RHETORIC AND PARTICIPATORY CRITICAL RHETORIC

Rhetoric theory had pedagogical and functional meanings such as persuasion techniques and elocution in Ancient Greece, where it was born. Also known as the Classical Rhetorical Tradition, rhetoric theory continued to be influential for a long time adopting the same approach in Ancient Greece. In the 20th century, the development of anti-positivism in social sciences and the increase in the number of language studies led to certain transformations in rhetoric theory in terms of both its meaning and field-related issues. This new trend then referred to as the New Rhetoric has generated researchers who transformed the meaning of rhetoric from persuasion techniques to identification. The New Rhetoric Tradition, which emphasizes the necessity to take into consideration the moment and the context in which rhetoric is produced, has caused rhetoric analyses to spread to wider fields. This study addresses the theorization phases and basic characteristics of participatory critical rhetoric approach which enables the examination of rhetoric in its natural environment through the use of qualitative research methods in the field of New Rhetoric.
