JULES VERNE IN EBA READING BOOKS AND PHYSICS COURSE CURRICULUM: THE EXAMPLE OF JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH

The method of this qualitative study aiming to reveal the associations of one of the books written by Jules Verne on the Education Informatics Network (EBA) with the acquisitions of the Secondary Education Physics Course Curriculum (2018) is document analysis. The document examined in the study is the book named "Journey to the Center of the Earth". The book was read by the researchers and subjected to content analysis. As a result of the analysis, the content of the book could be associated with 40.9% of the acquisitions at the 9th grade and 35,9% of the acquisitions at the 10th grade. These rates are 12.9% and 2.9% at the 11th and 12th grade levels, respectively. Considering the ratio of associations with acquisitions on a unit basis, the rate rises up to 75% at the 9th grade 'Introduction to Physics' and 'Electrostatic' units and 10th grade 'Pressure and Buoyant Force' unit. In some units, it was not possible to associate with any acquisition. It is thought that the association examples presented in this study can guide teachers in planning their lesson processes, textbook authors in writing processes, and academicians in both planning lesson processes and designing new researches.
